Ginny's Story
We were asked in Sunday school today to tell about every place we lived and what place we liked best. For me, one of my favorite times was School at Gregory Portland. It was a time of innocence that can never be duplicated. I enjoyed school and friends tremendously. I didn't have a vision past high school, thought I wanted to be a nurse, but college wasn't in the cards for me at that time but God led me where I needed to be anyway. I loved pep rallies, bond fires, football, basketball, volleyball and track season. I loved UIL. I loved summers where I used to walk out to the high school to jump on the trampoline or shoot some hoops. I loved hanging out at night and whistling at cars that drove by with my friend Leigh. I loved scaring my neighbor Mr. Nix by yelling out the window when he came home late at night from work. I loved my neighborhood girlfriends. I loved walks down to the bay fishing with my brothers. I had dates where we just walked to and from our homes - no cars! I loved cruising i...Expand for more
n cars with my friend Shirley in the evenings and seeing who was hanging out. I loved my teachers. I loved my school. I loved my friends. I had my first crush in Portland and fell in "love" in high school, but what did I really know about love? Not much. It was a simpler time without a lot of cares in the world for me. After graduating, I remember hanging out with Barbara and going to the Haunted House in Corpus to dance. That was so much fun! I got married in 1970, moved to New Jersey, had two amazing children in Indiana, moved to Illinois and then back to Texas. I divorced in Sugar Land Texas and remarried in Hawaii to Fred Bergmann and now have retired in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Through all the ups and downs that life throw us - All in all - I am blessed beyond words. Thank you for visiting my page. Let me know you were here and where life has taken you. If our paths have crossed in the past then you were important to me and still are. If they have not crossed, perhaps they should. God Bless!
